The Pro Late Model World Crown 250 saw many entrants trying to be the best of the best at Peachstate Speedway this weekend. One was 19-year-old Jimmy Lang, who was fast throughout practice, qualifying and the race, but a bad break put him towards the back of the pack, where he was a victim of an incident, taking him out of contention for the win.
“We had a real good weekend until the end,” explained Lang. “In practice we had a real fast car. We were second fastest out of about 40 cars that were there. We went to qualifying and we ended up sixth.
“In the race we were running fourth and my car got loose on me and I hit the wall. It bent the A arm. During the 10 minute break we came in and tried to change it. If you go over 10 minutes you get put to the rear and we went over by a minute, so they put us to the back which was frustrating since we were running fourth.”
Lang immediately went to work, steering his car through the traffic. Before he could get all the way to the front, a wreck in front of him ended his day.
“I was coming back to the front,” said Lang. “I passed about six cars in four or five laps. Going into three there were a bunch of cars piled up. I tried to slow down, but there was nowhere to go. Somebody ran into me and that put me in the wall. It got the front clip.”
Jimmy Lang and the #86 team now turn their attention to the Snowflake 100 Pro Late Model race at Five Flags Speedway in Florida on December 1st.
