Georgia Doubleheader A Learning Experience For Lang
The ASA Late Model Series Southern Division hit two tracks this weekend in Georgia, giving Jimmy Lang two chances to drive into victory lane. While the finishes weren’t exactly what he wanted, Lang learned a lot about his car and the setup he needs to get a victory before the end of the season.
In the first race of the weekend at South Georgia Motorsports Park on Friday, Lang started towards the front, but faded late before having a tire blow out, ending his chance at victory.
“We qualified sixth, but they inverted the order up front so I started third, so that was pretty good,” said Lang. “We were trying to go for second place a couple times, but the tire pressures were wrong so the car went away real quick. We started falling back, then had a vibration problem and had to come in and change some tires. When we went back out we blew a tire and hit the wall. It should have been a real good night since we started third out of 30 cars, but that took us out of it.”
The second race was held at New Senoia Raceway on Saturday. The day didn’t go the way Lang wanted, but the team worked on the car and feel they have found what they were lacking.
“Saturday night we started 13th and ended up finishing 14th,” said Lang. “We were off on the setup a little bit. We just need to work on a few things. We found out a few things on the setup, so we should be better for our next race.”
Next up for Jimmy Lang is the North VS South Shootout/World Cup 200 taking place on Saturday and Sunday, September 22nd and 23rd at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, Missouri.
