Jimmy Lang Goes Back-to-Back at Senoia Speedway

What a difference a year makes.  In 2007 Jimmy Lang was looking for solid runs and good finishes.  Its apparent after the first few weeks of the 2008 season that anything less than a win might be a disappointment.

For the second time in his two ASA Late Model South starts this year, Lang drove to victory lane this time at Senoia Speedway (GA).

"I told my crew chief after qualifying that we had a lot more racecar than fourth place," said Lang.  "I just knew the car was going to handle well."

Rolling from fourth wasnt easy at all.  The night almost ended on lap 11 when the leader was turned around in front of the entire field.  The driver that incited the contact was given the black flag, handing the lead to Lang.

"It stinks, but thats the rule that ASA has.  I hated it, but then I was like, oh yeah! because we got the lead."

It was clear sailing after the quick tangle up front, and Lang drove away and hit each restart to perfection giving him his second win of the season.  The Bluffton, South Carolina, driver was impressed with the car and his crew chief after the run.

"Rusty Shaden just gives me the best cars.  It felt like we were on new tires the whole race.  The car felt so good; after two or three laps we were already several car lengths in front.  We rolled through tech and had no problems, and we were actually 20 pounds over weight."

Lang knows that family support has kept him on the track and knows that the support is what has fueled his runs to victory lane.

"My mom and dad have been great.  Through the years we have struggled, especially in 2007.  That plays a big part in our success.  My dad has been very supportive."

With a strong showing in the ASA Late Model South series, Lang now turns to the ASA Challenge Series at OReilly Raceway Park (IN) on April 26th.

"We have started off our season pretty good, and I am blown away.  This is awesome.  Theres going to be a lot of competition at OReilly Raceway Park.  There probably will be twice the cars or more, so we are going to have to step it up."
