The long hot streak of Jimmy Lang has finally come to an end, sort of. After winning three straight races and coming home third after a flat tire, how can you be upset? The truth is you can’t really.
Jimmy Lang was all smiles after the Super Sonic 100 at Concord Motorsport Park (NC). A flat tire sent Lang back to 18th, but that didn’t keep him down for long. After only a handful of laps he worked his way back into the top 10. When it was all said and done it was Lang coming home third, a strong finish, yet his worst finish of the year in ASA Late Model South.
Jimmy Lang overcame a flat tire to score a third place finish at Concord.
“We don’t know what happened to (the tire),” said Lang. “Right when they threw the green I went off into one and it made some noise. I slid up the track and the right front was down. I came in and changed it and went to the rear. Overall we had an awesome weekend. I just want to thank Performance Concepts, my parents and my team for their effort this weekend.”
The trip to the back made for a long night and by the time Lang got to third he had used up his tires. At one point he got into a minor altercation that banged up the nose a bit. Even with the damage he kept on motoring as his bid for a record fourth straight win fell short.
“I burned my stuff up coming up through the field,” added Lang. I knew I was doing it when I was coming up, but I wanted to get up to the top three. If we wouldn’t have blown that right front it might have been four in a row for us, but that is racing. I am just going to suck it up and take it and go on to the next race.”
With the third place run Lang still leads the South Division points after four races. They will be back in action on August 2nd at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC. Jimmy will be racing the ASA Challenge event at Salem Speedway in Indiana on July 19th.
