Jimmy began racing go-karts at 10. He finished 4th and 5th in the World Karting Association Dirt Nationals. He had feature wins at Cochran Speedway, Center Raceway, and Hortense Speedway in Georgia 2001, at age 12 Jimmy began racing Legends Cars at Hardeeville Motor Speedway in the Young Lions Division where he had several wins and also won the Young Lions Track Championship.
He also had wins at Lanier National Speedway and at Atlanta Motor Speedway in The Thursday Thunder.
2002, at age 13 Jimmy began his second full season in the Legends Cars in the Semi-Pro Division. He raced 70 times that year, picking up 19 wins, and 59 top 5's. His wins came at eight different tracks. He won the 2002 Young Lions National Points Championship. He placed 2nd in the Semi-Pro Nationial Points , 2nd in points in The Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway,2nd in points in The Summer Shootout at Lowes Motor Speedway, 2nd in points at Hardeeville Motor Speedway, and 2nd in points at Lanier National Speedway. Astoundingly Jimmy did not wreck one time that year and had only one DNF !
2003, at age 14, Jimmy began his late model career. Driving his #8 Lang's Heating & Air Chevy Monte Carlo at Cordele Motor Speedway where he recorded his 1st late model win and had several top 3 finishes. He also raced at Jennerstown Speedway where he finished 4th.
2007, age 18, Jimmy ran his #86 Chevy Monte Carlo in the ASA Late Model Series (South Division) where he finished 9th in ASA LM South points. He did record five top ten finishes including a top five at Bronson.
2008, age 19, some seasons define a person’s career and 2008 was exactly that for Jimmy Lang. The season started with a promising showing at New Smyrna Speedweeks with five top-10 finishes.
That only got the ball rolling as Lang dominated the first part of the ASA Late Model South season by picking up wins at Bronson Motor Speedway (FL), New Senoia Speedway (GA), and Watermelon Capital Speedway (GA). A fourth victory was in the works, but a flat tire at Concord Speedway (NC) ended the run. Still, Lang managed to finish third after coming from the back.
The winning ways returned at Orange County Speedway (NC) and South Georgia Motorsports Park (GA). Lang finished the season strong and won the championship with five wins and an average finish of 2.22.
Lang also competed in the ASA Late Model Challenge Series where he logged three top 10 finishes including a fifth at Mansfield. Lang would finish 10th in the final Challenge Series standings.
2009, Age 20, Lang will be attempting to bring the ASA Late Model Challenge Series Championship back to Bluffton, South Carolina. If you have trouble finding the #86 Chevy Monte Carlo out on the track just look towards the front of the field. Chances are he’ll be on his way to victory lane.
2004 , at age 15, Jimmy ran two Hooters Pro Cup races. He was not able to run full schedule due to lack of sponsorship.
2005, at age 16, Jimmy ran his #86 Lang's Heating & Air Chevy Monte Carlo Late Model. He won 7 out of 8 races at Hardeeville Motor Speedway. He also had a 5th and 10th place finish in the Georgia Asphalt Series races at Peach State Speedway.
2006, at age 17 Jimmy did not compete.
